Ms. BuchananA special note from Ms. Buchanan:

I am excited to connect with you as the new principal of Huntley Elementary School!

I have been in education for 24 years, initially as a special education teacher followed by six years as an elementary principal in the Oshkosh Area School District. I come from a large family and we spend a lot of time together. Family is very important to me! I recently moved to the Appleton area and am excited to begin exploring, learning, and becoming a part of the Appleton community. I love to go on adventures whether local or far away...we have so many amazing places to see in our own community!

I am looking forward to the start of the school year and being a part of the Road Runner family. I have been busy looking through the school yearbook at student photos, staff composites, and learning about this amazing school community to learn names of students/staff and to learn about your traditions. I watched the talent show video that was sent out at the end of the year...Road Runners definitely have talent! I pride myself on working daily to connect and build relationships with students, parents, staff, and community. I am establishing meetings with staff members at this time, and the caliber of the staff at Huntley is simply outstanding. Thank you for selecting me to be a part of this team.

I believe that a successful school team needs a strong partnership between educators and parents for the success of every child. I want to partner with you and value the input you provide. I love being a principal and I believe that I have the greatest job in the world. Each day I get to come to work with teachers to help contribute to the success of every child. Student health, safety and learning is at the heart of all decisions. I believe in utilizing culturally responsive practices, and having high expectations for the academic and social and emotional growth for all. I commit to you that I will give 150% every day to make Huntley a better place for all.

Finally, I know that we are in uncharted times as we navigate how to return to school under covid restrictions. Please know that I will be communicating often as I learn information. At any time, you can reach out to me with specific questions or concerns. Together we will have a successful school year, regardless of what format we are in.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet students, staff, and families in person and begin the 2020-2021 school year with you. Get ready for a great school year!
